Denver Child Support Lawyer
Serving Parents in Denver, Adams, Douglas, Arapahoe & Jefferson Counties & Across Colorado
Child support determines which parent will give the other monthly payments to help provide for the minor child or children financially. Child Support can be modified at any time by agreement of the parties. And the court is not reluctant to modify and good cause is “substantial and continuing change” and if the resulting support would be a ten percent change.
If you need to resolve a support dispute, whether as part of a pending divorce or long after when the life circumstances of you or your child have changed, The Law Offices of Chris Matz P.C. is here to help. Denver child support attorney Chris Matz has a long track record of handling these often volatile matters both outside of court through adept negotiation or in court as a seasoned trial attorney.
Our firm understands the court policy of serving the child’s best interests while taking into consideration your parental rights. Chris can strongly advocate for you while seeking equitable resolutions that will include ensuring both parents are providing their fair share of financial support to their children.

I have made it my mission to ensure my clients' voices are heard. Every person deserves their day in court and a lawyer who cares about their case just as much as they do."

Colorado Child Support Basics
Factors in determining in the amount of support include:
- The child’s financial resources
- The custodial parent’s financial resources
- The child’s standard of living if their parents lived together
- The child’s physical and emotional condition
- The child’s educational requirements
- The noncustodial parent’s financial resources
Child Support in Colorado is ordinarily determined by a worksheet which uses a formula which results in a presumptive amount. The court can deviate upwards or downwards from this presumptive formula for good cause.
The formula includes both parents’ gross incomes, number of overnights with each parent, whether either parent is legally/financially responsible for any other children, and certain adjustments such as day care costs and health insurance costs.
